Within Counselling is the name of my private practice. I’m Alana Warwick, and in most cases, I am the sole therapist working with clients. Occasionally, I collaborate with other trusted practitioners who work alongside me under the Within Counselling name.
I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Clinical Training (BACP-accredited) and currently work as a Safeguarding Lead and Counsellor at Chelmsford Counselling Foundation, alongside my private practice.
I offer one-to-one therapy, with in-person sessions in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, and through Chelmsford Counselling, Essex, as well as online sessions for remote access. I work with clients facing a wide range of difficulties, recognising the complexity and individuality of each person’s experience.
I practise neurodiversity-affirming therapy, valuing the natural differences in how people experience and process the world, including ADHD, autism, and dyslexia. I focus on each person’s unique needs and strengths, which may include exploring identity, navigating challenges, or understanding a later diagnosis. My work is informed by both professional and lived experience, supporting a thoughtful and empathic approach.
My approach centres on building a supportive, collaborative therapeutic relationship. Together, we explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels right for you. This process aims to foster self-awareness and support meaningful, lasting change.
People seek therapy for many reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, or relationship difficulties, or feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of what is troubling you. Therapy provides a safe space to reflect, make sense of your experiences, and feel supported.
I understand that starting therapy can feel like a big step. If you are unsure, you are welcome to a brief phone conversation followed by an initial consultation. This allows us to share practical information, consider what has led you to counselling, ask questions, and explore how we might work together, with no obligation to continue.
